Difference between electromagnetic relay, solenoid valve and contactor

An electromagnetic valve is an electromagnetically controlled industrial device that is an automated basic element for controlling fluids. It is an actuator and is not limited to hydraulic and pneumatic. Used to adjust the direction, flow, speed, and other parameters of the media in industrial control systems. Solenoid valves can be combined with different circuits to achieve the desired control, and the control accuracy and flexibility can be guaranteed. There are many kinds of solenoid valves. Different solenoid valves play a role in different positions of the control system. The most commonly used ones are check valves, safety valves, directional control valves, and speed control valves.


Contactors are divided into AC contactors (voltage AC) and DC contactors (voltage DC), which are used for power, distribution and power. In the broadest sense, a contactor refers to an electrical device in an industrial power system that uses a coil to flow a current to generate a magnetic field and close contacts to achieve control of the load.


Difference: Electromagnetic relays and contactors are control elements in the electrical control system to switch on and off the load. The solenoid valve is the actuator and is the basic automation element that controls the fluid.
