Common Faults Of Current Transformer

1) The insulation of current transformer is very thick, some insulation wrap loosely, there are wrinkles between insulation layers, coupled with poor vacuum treatment, impregnated incomplete and cause air cavity, which is easy to cause partial discharge fault

Even less discharge capacitor screen, capacitor plate is not smooth and smooth, or even dislocation or fracture, so that its voltage sharing characteristics are destroyed. Therefore, when the electric field intensity along the solid insulation of the Ministry of Administration reaches a certain value, it will cause partial discharge.

The direct consequence of the above partial discharge is that the insulating oil is cracked and a large amount of X wax is produced between the insulating layers, resulting in an increase in dielectric loss. This kind of discharge is cumulative effect, and the gas analysis in oil may have the characteristics of arc discharge.

3) due to the uncleanness or high moisture content of the insulating material, surface discharge may occur on the surface. This is more common in the discharge of the terminal lead along the surface of the pad.

4) Spark discharge will be caused by loose connection or potential suspension of metal parts, such as loose support nut of primary winding, shielding aluminum foil potential suspension of primary winding, poor contact or welding of terminal lead wire, and even breakage of wire.

5) Loose splints, bolts and nuts, loose grounding nuts on the terminal screen, loose tap fastening nuts and so on may increase contact resistance and lead to local overheating failure. In addition, attention should be paid to improper site maintenance management. For example, moisture in the intake of a transformer may be related to the sealing structure and sealing materials of a manufacturer, but there are also maintenance and management problems.  Generally speaking, inadequate vacuum degassing on site or no vacuum drying during overhaul can easily saturate dissolved gases in oil or cause high residual bubbles and moisture content in oil-paper insulation. All of these will leave a hidden danger to the equipment.
