At present, the core materials commonly used in current transformer are cold rolled silicon steel sheet, permalloy and iron based super microcrystalline alloy. Silicon steel sheet can be applied to both protective iron core and general measuring iron core. It is widely used and low price. Permalloy and super microcrystalline alloy materials have high initial magnetic conductivity and saturated magnetic flux. It has the characteristics of low rate, but the price is high. It is only suitable for demanding measurement accuracy.
Iron core commonly used in current transformers is laminated iron core, coil core (also called annular core), open iron core and so on.
1, stacked core. The cold-rolled silicon steel sheets are punching and cutting into strips along the direction of rolling (i.e., the direction of magnetic lines), and then the strips are stacked together to form the mouth type. Laminated cores are mainly used for small current transformers 35kV and below.
2, the coil core is made of strip cold rolled silicon steel sheet, with round, oval and rectangular shapes. The performance of coil core is very ideal. It is widely used on 35kV and above, and other high current transformers are often used.
3, open iron core. It is also called an air gap iron core, which is cured by vacuum impregnation or epoxy resin, and then cut into two or more petals on the cutting machine. After the incisions are filled with a non-magnetic gasket that requires the width of the air gap, the stainless steel belt is lash into a complete iron core, and the open core is mainly current mutual inductance required by the transient characteristics.
